Green Council, to Keynote Green Media Summit

Lauren Zalaznick
Lauren Zalaznick, the President of Bravo Media and Oxygen Media, will address the home entertainment industry at its April 2 Green Media Summit in Los Angeles. Zalaznick was named President of Oxygen Media after its acquisition by NBC Universal in November of 2007. She also serves as chairman of the NBC Universal Green Council, which was responsible for last fall's weeklong programming commitment to environmental themes as well as the company's ongoing green initiatives.

Oxygen is a program service of NBC Universal Cable Entertainment and is currently available in over 73 million homes. One of the nation’s leading female-focused cable television networks, Oxygen airs unconventional and original programming including “The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency,” “The Bad Girls Club” and “Tori & Dean: Inn Love.”

LOS ANGELES -- Dan Esty, Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University, and author of the business best-seller "Green to Gold," has been named the keynote speaker at the first Green Media Summit, April 2 in Los Angeles. This invitation-only event will host over 125 executives from all home entertainment studios who are exploring new environmental practices for the design, supply and retailing of home entertainment software.

Professor Esty is the Director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy as well as the Yale World Fellows Program and is the author or editor of eight books and numerous articles on environmental policy issues and the relationships between the environment and trade, globalization, security, competitiveness, international institutions, and development. His current research agenda includes projects on environmental protection in the Information Age and a rethinking for corporate environmental strategy.

Esty will participate in, advise and consult throughout the day as part of the program's in-depth, highly-interactive expert knowledge exchange about creating more sustainable programs for the design of DVD packaging, and creating green disciplines for retail merchandising, transportation, and manufacturing. The program will provide tutorials on the new environmental scorecards from key retailers. Presentation and analysis of the latest carbon emission analysis of the DVD will debut. Updates will be provided by current cross-industry environmental working groups on packaging, displays, transportation and education.

DEG Announces Green Media Summit

Event on April 2 in Los Angeles Will Address Environmental Information Needs of Home Entertainment Execs

LOS ANGELES -- (January 30, 2008) --DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group has announced the first in a series of events designed to inform the studio and entertainment communities about the latest developments and opportunities for the environmental delivery of digital entertainment media. The Green Media Summit, scheduled for April 2, 2008 at the Luxe Hotel in Los Angeles, is an invitation-only meeting for an exclusive list of operations, creative services, marketing and sales delegates from content holders and their partners.

"We need to make certain we deliver the content – be it physical or digital media – in an eco-friendly manner that is respectful of the environment,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman, DEG and President, Walt Disney Studios Worldwide Home Entertainment. “Now, more than ever, we need to work together to find solutions that help us watchdog ourselves into making a cleaner, greener world,"

The one-day event is being co-produced by the Entertainment Supply Chain Academy (ESCA), which will be developing the conference program in cooperation with Reed Business Information.
