Dick Cantwell is Vice President and RFID/EPC Leader with Procter & Gamble.  He is responsible for P&G's efforts to develop and commercialize Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and The Electronic Product Code (EPC).  This emerging technology is being used by P&G to provide greater supply chain visibility, reduce out-of-stocks, execute promotional displays with excellence and for consumer marketing.

Dick joined P&G as part of the merger with The Gillette Company in 2005.  At Gillette, Dick directed his company's involvement in RFID ever since Gillette and P&G co-founded the Auto-ID Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1999.  He was elected Chairman of the Auto-ID Center Board of Overseers in 2001.

Today, P&G is a leading member of EPCglobal, the global industry standards organization responsible for developing EPC standards and  driving EPC adoption.  Dick currently serves as Chairman of the EPCglobal Board of Governors.

Dick is a graduate of Harvard University, received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Dartmouth College and began his career in Marketing with Johnson & Johnson working on TYLENOL Brands.
For over 25 years, Dick has managed Gillette, Braun, Oral-B, J&J and other leading Brands.  His background in new product innovation and Brand positioning has led to numerous new products launches and marketing successes.  In 1995, Dick was recognized as CPG Marketer of the Year.  In 2003, he received the New England Business and Technology Association Award for Innovation and, in 2004, was put on Computerworld’s list of Most Powerful People in Networking.  In 2005, Dick was named a Top 25  Consumer Products Visionary by Consumer Goods Technology for strides he has taken to better his company’s business through technology.

P&G believes in EPC as an enabling technology to improve business processes by providing real time product visibility, accurate data capture and actionable business intelligence throughout its Product Supply Network from factory to retail store shelf.  This “EPC Actionable Visibility” will help make sure P&G products are always available when the customer wants them and can be used to enhance the consumer shopping experience.
