Ruchir Sehra, M.D., is a board-certified cardiologist with extensive executive experience in early (private), mid (public), and late stage (acquisition) medical device companies in cardiology and spine.  He is currently the Vice President of Clinical Research and Professional Education for Kyphon, Inc, now part of Medtronic, Inc.  Kyphon was the largest medical device start-up acquisition ($4.2 Billion) in the past decade, becoming part of Medtronic’s Spinal and Biologics Business in November, 2007.  Dr. Sehra is in charge of the spine industry’s broadest clinical portfolio of studies (over 3000 patients) and physician training programs (3000 MDs trained/yr).  Kyphon’s innovative business style has been reflected in clinical research by novel trial management techniques such as rapid globalization of trials and, recently, integrated enterprise management solutions being deployed for research uses.

Before joining Kyphon, Dr. Sehra served for nearly 3 years as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Stereotaxis, Inc., a global provider of advanced remote and robotic cardiac catheterization solutions.  Prior to joining Stereotaxis, Dr. Sehra spent nearly 2 years as Vice President of Clinical Affairs and Medical Director for CryoCor, Inc. a privately held cardiac medical device manufacturer.  Prior to his employment at CryoCor, Dr. Sehra served from 1999 to 2004 as Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Loma Linda University where he practiced full time electrophysiology and was Director of Business Operations for an 85- physician practice. He currently maintains a small electrophysiology practice at the San Diego VA Medical Center.
Dr. Sehra received his B.A. from Wabash College and his M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine.  He also received an MBA from the University of California, Irvine.  He is currently Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, member of the American Heart Association, and Fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.
